two moments. one man.

Blogtember Day 6: Describe a distinct moment when your life took a turn. Yup, you're getting exactly what you prob expected

Two moments. It was five years ago to the month. The night I met Mike. He changed it all for me. I had had my fair share of dysfunctional relationships. All great men but we just weren't right for one another. Until Mike. I remember walking into Raleigh Times (local watering hole) and spotting him in the group I was meeting up with (by group, I mean him and I were playing wingman unknowingly so there were four total). He was cute. Real cute. Then he opened his mouth. He was smart, funny, listened well, engaged in conversation like he enjoyed it not because he was interested in something else. I was pretty impressed. Doesn't take much, does it ;)?

He brings out sides of me I never knew I had. He also keeps me from taking every risk that comes my way. He's my safety net, my encourager, my cheerleader and best friend. I came out of my rut and stopped taking so many blatant wrong turns. It was through our decision to be obedient, that both of our relationships with Christ transformed. That we transformed. Ok seriously, look down. He's such a little cutie!

It was two years ago to the month. I married that man. It was through our commitment of marriage that I've grown closer to Jesus, been challenged to be more like Him, be selfless, forgive, support, encourage, submit, work hard at something, never give up. I've learned more about myself, my intended role as a wife, my Jesus in the past two years than the 24 before that. I've been challenged and feel more alive and excited than ever. I don't know what it is but this spot where I am right now, feels like I've finally found my groove.

And it all started on a September night at Raleigh Times.

1 Peter 3:1-6
In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior. And let not your adornment be merely external-- braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God. For in this way in former times the holy women also, who hoped in God, used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their own husbands. Thus Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, and you have become her children if you do what is right without being frightened by any fear.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor. For if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to the one who falls when there is not another to lift him up. Furthermore, if two lie down together they keep warm, but how can one be warm alone? And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.
