dining looks for less

This weekend Mike and I took a trip to the mall. We had gift certificates from our wedding that were burning a hole in my pocket - they had to be spent. Luckily, Mike takes a strong interest in our house and decorating it so he came along to help. I am a neutral lover -- give me white, tan, gray and I am a happy camper.

We ventured into Pottery Barn to get some goods {with our gift certificates} and of course fell in love with everything. The price tags there are slightly outrageous. I'll splurge on PB linens {because they are great} but that's about it. However, we of course fell in love with all of the store displays. 

The set up that we loved in the store { I should have snapped a pic.. I wasn't thinking} went for a natural, simple but slightly beachy look. It incorporated this gorgeous striped table runner, woven style place mats and simple beach accents. We purchased the runner and set out to find the other pieces without the pricey price tags.
